HOW-TO: FL, US Libertarian Institute Team 2012 Wins

http://www.flsenate.gov/Committees/BillSummaries/2012

We encourage as they mature ALL LI fan contact teams to emulate the  mother Florida LI contact team & network which now reports many wins: While most statutes are of an administrative nature (e.g. designating a symbolic state ship) of at best modest interest, several items were targeted for call and contact by the trans-partisan team, while others such as a home video recording privacy statute still need improvement (it could conceivably be used to allow errant intruders to sue!) . The team… (and which has  been using a preliminary LI model since 2005 noted @  https://rightsandpolicyreporter.wordpress.com/how/ and the following have been approved for Governor’s signature):

  1. Disseminated our rating system  and potential issues for dialogue https://rightsandpolicyreporter.wordpress.com/how/ to focus effort along with feedback on likely items to pass or that needed emphasis
  2. Contacted coalitions interested in similar issues at activist peer-t0-peer level–there are also over 100 not counted by us in other parties in their list
  3. Contactes all offices a minimum of once and some many times

Key wins were:

  • Under 250K homestead tax exemption for seniors to go to initiative approval; several business tax improvements including protection of contractors from being harrassed over the tax problems of their contractees
  • Preliminary legislative work for a spaceport of private-public character as in NM http://www.flsenate.gov/Committees/billsummaries/2012/html/138
  • Better voluntary tax system on motor vehicle licenses for certain causes; increase tax exemption for scholarship contributions by firms
  • Ease voluntarism with adopt-a-road or park agreements and clarified liability for private owners who let public use property for e.g. hunting or recreation for free
  • Sunset /Sunshine law review
  • Simplified one-stop permit applications and filing of plans by web; regulatory simplifications for chiropractors and others
  • Improvement of concealed gun carry with lower fee, which has greatly reduced crime and anti-tourist robberies
  • Non-violent offender re-entry programs; repositioning unemployment bureaucracy as re-employment
  • Schooling: administrative improvements on home/virtual, accelerated and trade schooling making student options easier

In addition work is underway to encourage a recall procedure, return of 50% approval of initiatives, expanded homestead and end to sales tax, medical marihuana procedure, voluntary-based universal health-dental care and guaranteed basic income, a shore park with homesteads and anti-drill  pollution safeties extending to sea boundaries, and eventual tax abolition ( see http://libertariansmile.wordpress.com/?s=gilson+plan ).
